DOGSO - Getting it Right
Sunderland Referees Association were one of 18 branch societies throughout the country to receive the invitation to host the event and despite horrendous weather conditions in the North East plenty of members from Sunderland and other referee societies within our County made the effort to attend and were rewarded with a great night for referee development.
Lindsey Robinson, Referee Development Officer for Northumberland FA and Level 2 Tutor Referee Adam Nichol led the “DOGSO” (Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity) – Getting it Right interactive session using video clips from games at all Levels with plenty of group activity, thought processes, and knowledge of Law for attendees to reach their final decision. Suffice to say as in the case with the refereeing world we live in not everybody was in total agreement but let’s all agree on one thing referee decision is final.
Jeff Russell, Durham County FA Referee Development Officer was justifiably proud of the professionalism of the whole evening, with everybody’s contribution making it a total success for referee development. Further good news is that Sunderland Referee Association will be hosting two further development events in January and March next year so get your seats booked now is the message.
