DURHAM COUNTY FA SUMMER REFEREE EVENT 2022
The inaugural summer referee event was held on 3rd July 2022 at Nissan Sports complex, Washington.
The event was opened by RDO, Seb Stockbridge who thanked all those who had gave up their time to come along and that they would hopefully be able to take away some great advice from our very strong coaching team.
The 6 workshops were ran by our coaches, David Webb, Andrew Kitchen, Adam Herczeg, Shaun Hudson, Graham Fyvie, Sam Parnaby, James Westgate, Steve Birkett and Charlie Dixon all who are either active EFL/PGMOL match officials or FA Tutors. They were joined by 2 guest presenters in Gary Bennett, Show Racism the red card and Liam Slack, PGMOL Sports Pychologist.
These workshops were both practical and technical such as assistant referee decision making, Dealing with discrimination, refereeing in the moment and effective game management.
The event concluded with Premier League and FIFA referee, Craig Pawson talking about his journey in refereeing, what makes a good referee and the hot topic of VAR as well as take questions from the audience.
