FA MENTOR PROGRAMME - WOMEN AND GIRLS
FA COACH MENTOR PROGRAMME
amy Lines shares her experience
Amy Lines, Coach of Hebburn Involve Youth U9's Flames, recently attended the FA Mentor Programme with Durham FA's Women and Girls Coach Mentor Billy Horn for a CPD day for other Coach Mentor's to share her journey within the programme and how it has developed her confidence.
Amy had this to say:
I recently attended the FA Mentor day at St Georges park where I spoke about my journey as a mentee - from how it started to now as well as where it’s going and my future aspirations.
It was an inspiring day and I’m very appreciative to have been able to share my journey as a case study for other mentors. I took plenty away from the day and learned more about the mentor programme, somewhere I aspire to be in years to come.
From sending that daunting first email to explaining who I was and why I wanted help and support with my new U9 team. Coming from a non football background (I was a netballer not a footballer!) I was anxious whether I would be able to develop my team to be the best players they could be, hence why I reached out for help to aid my development.
Billy, my mentor, has been a brilliant support and I would encourage anyone out there to reach out for the support from the FA Mentor Programme. It would be great to see more women coaching, from all backgrounds, to help break any gender barriers.
